Juwan Williams: Me

My journey into film, TV, and commercials began with this curiosity I had for the magic created in the making of Finding Nemo actually. As a kid, I, with no exaggeration, watched every "making-of" my mom's DVD and VHS collection offered. It wasn't just entertainment for me; it was an education. Hell, I even ejected the DVD/VHS if it didn’t have a behind the scenes I could watch, because I watched that first most times. 

For a while I didn’t think I wanted to do this because I was so focused on being an actor. I’ve worked as BG on some feature lengths and some TV shows, but eventually turned my head back to what drew my interest in the first place. Headed to school and learned a good bit of camera, specifically 2nd; still with plenty more to learn in my chosen craft.

I genuinely cannot explain what being on set feels like to me, so I'm not going to try; I just know I enjoy it. That feeling translates into a dedicated, observant and enthusiastic presence, every single time.

I didn’t grow up around the industry, but learned the hard way that if a door doesn’t open then you build one. I have had to and have to continue to create opportunities where there were none. I have goals and it isn’t just to be a “Filmmaker”. I need those doors to open for more than just me - this is for the people I came up with.

This is bigger than me.
